Hey Friends! As I prep to meet baby number four, I am packing my hospital bag with some oils to soothe during delivery and oils to use postpartum. Before I get into all that though, I wanted to share some of my favorite oils that I’ve been using to support my body during pregnancy. I love that Young Living offers soooo many different oils so that if one oil combo doesn’t jive with you, you can always try something else. These are the oils that I’ve loved and turned to time and time again throughout this pregnancy, but like with anything else, you have to find what works best for your body. I hope this at least gives you an idea of a good place to start!
This oil offers thyroid support, adrenal gland function as well as hormone support. I apply this oil each morning on my neck (over my thyroid) and then take a few deep breaths of the oil off of my hands. I have found this super helpful in battling those darn pregnancy headaches as well as keeping my bowels moving and assisting with my energy levels. It’s interesting how many ailments stem from hormone imbalance but I feel like this oil has been one of the biggest game changers for me! This is one of the oils that made me a believer in the power of essential oils.
Peppermint will always be one of my favorite essential oils! I use this to help with head tension (rub it on my temples/ back of neck) I use it for digestion/ tummy support (can apply on tummy topically or mix one drop in with peppermint tea and drink) and I also use it for anxiety and to support my breathing. Once you’ve reached the third trimester, sometimes your lungs can feel cramped which makes breathing feel difficult. I rub one drop of peppermint across my chest and then breathe the oil off of my hands to calm myself when I feel anxious or just when I feel a general sense of not being able to breathe.
3. Gentle Baby
If I’m being completely honest, I don’t **love** the smell of this oil but I love what it does for my skin!! I use one drop of gentle baby combined with a blob of coconut oil and rub it on my belly every morning and evening to keep stretch marks at bay. This oil is also great for your face and overall skin support, plus it’s gentle enough to use on cranky little ones.
The tummy troubles during pregnancy are endless. Nausea, constipation, heart burn – the list goes on. This is my go to oil for tummy troubles. You can apply topically on the belly or what I usually do is apply one drop under my tongue. This oil works fast, which I love!
5. Peace and Calming*
I love to rub this oil on my feet and legs before bed for sleep support and also to help fight off those pesky leg cramps and restlessness that I always seem to get during pregnancy. This is also a great oil to diffuse when you need to destress or before bed.
6. Lavender + Frankincense*
These two oils, in a roller ball, topped off with fractionated coconut oil! Ahhh!! I cannot even express how much I love this magical combo. I use it all over my face post shower and love what it does for my face and I also use it on my tummy from time to time.
The oils with the * are oils that are included in the premium started kit. This is hands down the best, most affordable way, to get started with quality oils.
